Enrichment Programs

EXPLORE Pediatrics offers a full spectrum of enrichment programs throughout the South Shore of Massachusetts.

These groups are expertly crafted and guided by our team of pediatric specialists. Although they are not considered direct therapy, they provide holistic support to participants and take place in nature, which has countless therapeutic benefits.

Alexa Howell, OTR/L, is a dedicated and experienced pediatric occupational therapist with over a decade of experience supporting children’s growth and development in the clinical and school-based settings. Since earning her Bachelor’s degree in Child Development from Tufts University in 2009 and her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Tufts University in 2012, Alexa has built a strong career in pediatric occupational therapy. She currently works in the Kingston Public Schools.

Alexa holds specialty certifications in Sensory Integration, Reflex Integration, Therapeutic Listening, Feeding Therapy, and Handwriting Without Tears. These certifications, paired with her hands-on experience, empower Alexa to create individualized, evidence-based interventions that promote meaningful progress for children. She is passionate about the importance of sensory and motor development in young children and works tirelessly to support their unique needs.

Over the years, Alexa has cultivated a deep belief in the power of nature and outdoor experiences as essential elements of a child’s development. She advocates for children to spend more time outside, engage in “risky play,” and embrace moments of boredom to encourage creativity and resilience. Her desire to join the EXPLORE team stems from a commitment to providing children with opportunities to connect with nature in a supportive, child-led environment.

When she’s not working, Alexa enjoys spending quality time with her family. A lover of the beach, walks, and reading, she finds joy in outdoor activities with her three daughters. In 2022, Alexa and her daughters completed the 1000 Hours Outside challenge, further solidifying her belief in the developmental benefits of outdoor play.
